Substrate slabs

Substrate slabs are plastic mats filled with substrate material. There are various types of substrate slabs, but they mainly differ on the content of the slab. Some substrate mats are filled with organic materials (such as potting soil) where other substrate mats are filled with artificial materials (such as stone wool). The choice you make in this respect, depends on whatever is appropriate for your type of cultivation. Liquid drainage takes place through the holes at the bottom of the mat. To speed up the passage of your liquid, it is possible to pierce extra holes in the bottom of the mat. The advantage of growing using substrate slabs is that the mats fit well in with most cultivation gutters. In addition, growing via substrate mats saves you a lot of space, because everything grows consecutively parallel to each other.
